Words cannot begin to express my gratitude to this company and the team that was assembled to tackle this move. My father passed away and I had to move my mom with dementia across the country. They have acquired many items through the years and as an only child, this was incredibly overwhelming to do in your childhood home that was left untouched for a long time. Jose made me feel comfortable and understood. He guided me through the whole process and I cannot thank him enough for his sincerity and professionalism – reliability, transparency, good communication, and trust. The team was impeccable and everyone around our neighborhood couldn’t believe they did that move so fast. Efficiency! They helped me pack the items that were needed for shipment. They even watered my dad’s plants and made sure I didn’t have a single item left so they could remove that mental load off my plate. THANK YOU so much. Truly from the bottom of my heart, you are all amazing. God bless you all. “It's good to be loved, but profound to be understood”
Thank you thank you thank you

I could not have asked for a smoother move. Last year my husband passed, this year my job closed. It is time for a new chapter in a new state (because California has priced me out, unfortunately) and LAP Movers made it such an easy process. They were literally THOUSANDS of dollars cheaper than some of the other guys and worked with my schedule, even when it changed at the last minute. Octavio was patient with the ball of anxiety that is my natural state, and on the day, Luis and his partner were on time, professional and walked me through everything clearly and concisely. Wonderful company, wonderful guys. Goodbye Los Angeles, Hello New Orleans, and thank you LAP for starting this new adventure drama-free!

LAP movers were used on behalf Royal Canadian Van Lines. They packed very quickly. I paid for packing services and they overfilled boxes causing them to fall apart by delivery. They didn't repack boxes I had put stuff in temporarily which were not good enough for moving. I had all my items sorted in a room for packing. The labelling was terrible and they mixed random things into boxes where ever they fit, I can't find where things are without going through 30+ boxes. They were not clear about the long hallway fee ahead of time. They did communicate their arrival date ahead of time, but it was a day ahead of the window I requested. Royal Canadian Van lines movers were frustrated by the heavy boxes.

Wow, these guys are efficient and professional. They told me it would be 4 hours to move a storage shed to my house. It look them less than an hour to get everything pack and ready to roll. They met me at the house and it took them less than 25 minutes to roll it all out. I did not want it out in the house until it gets deep cleaned from storage.

10 stars

These guys are the best! Competitive pricing. Expert movers. When I tell you they didn't so much as bump a wall on the move out or move in--I'm not even exaggerating. Fast. Efficient. Friendly. Communicative. They moved me out of state and within days my property arrived safely. Every last piece. They also moved a baby grand piano for me...and had the expertise and experience to move such a valuable antique. Highly recommend.

How Do Piano Movers in Los Angeles Ensure Instrument Safety?

Piano movers in Los Angeles use specialized equipment like piano skid boards, heavy-duty straps, and thick moving blankets to stabilize and protect your piano during transport. Pianos are carefully secured to prevent shifting and shielded from potential damage to their finish, pedals, and internal components.  Forbes warns, “Although it may seem easier and more cost effective to move your own belongings without the hassle of hiring a company, moving a piano is not a highly recommended DIY experience.” Moving professionals understand how to disassemble necessary parts and maneuver pianos through challenging spaces while keeping the instrument secure.

At LAP Movers, we handle every piano with the highest level of care at every step of the moving process. Each move is planned and carried out by a crew trained to handle each piano’s unique needs and protect it against bumps, scratches, and vibrations during transit using the proper equipment and wrapping materials. “We understand the value behind the items we move. That’s why every piano we move is handled with care,” says LAP co-owner Luis Almaraz.

What Should I Look for in Los Angeles Piano Moving Company Reviews?

When looking through reviews on Los Angeles piano movers, focus on customer experiences specific to piano transport. Look for details about how the team handled the piano, whether it arrived in good condition, and how well they managed tight spaces or stairs. Reviews on Google and Yelp often reveal how punctual, communicative, and professional a company is—important traits when trusting someone with a valuable instrument. Move.org suggests, “Find customer reviews on third-party sites like Yelp and Google Reviews instead of just reading the customer reviews that companies share on their websites; those are always cherry-picked and don’t fully reflect actual customer experiences.”

At LAP Movers, we’re proud of our reputation for excellence in piano moving across Los Angeles. Our customer reviews frequently highlight our attention to detail, the professionalism of our crews, and the care we bring to every job. We welcome you to read our online reviews and see why the locals of Los Angeles trust us with their most delicate items. “Our goal is to earn trust through every successful move, and the positive feedback from our customers reflects that,” notes Luis Almaraz, LAP co-owner.

How Much Does It Cost to Move a Piano in Los Angeles?

Piano moving costs in Los Angeles depend on several factors, including the piano’s type and size, how far it’s being moved, and the complexity of the location (stairs, tight corners, etc.). According to MoveBuddha, “Local piano moves could cost as little as $150. However, moving a piano long-distance can cost as much as $2.50–$10 per mile, depending on the company’s rates. On average, most homeowners spend between $258 and $573 for piano moving services.” Additional costs may apply for disassembly, storage, or special access issues.

At LAP Movers, we provide clear, upfront pricing for piano moves across Los Angeles and beyond. Each quote is customized based on your piano type and moving conditions, ensuring you only pay for what you need and eliminating surprise fees on moving day. “We walk every customer through their quote and provide straightforward pricing,” says LAP co-owner Luis Almaraz.

How Should I Prepare My Piano for a Move in Los Angeles?

Before moving day in Los Angeles, prepare your piano by clearing the surrounding area of any obstacles and removing breakable items nearby. Lock the keyboard lid, and if possible, secure any parts that could shift in transit. For grand pianos, the lid should be closed and latched. Take photos of your piano’s condition and communicate any concerns about your home’s layout—tight doorways, stairs, or steep driveways—with your movers in advance. Moving.com comments, “The last thing you want happening is a scratch (or worse!) on your valuable instrument.”

While LAP Movers is ready to handle all prep work, a little preparation from you helps streamline the process. Let us know about any access challenges or fragile surroundings, and we’ll arrive with the right tools and crew. “Good preparation makes all the difference on moving day, and it helps us give you the easiest move possible,” adds Luis Almaraz, LAP co-owner and co-founder.

What's the Best Way to Maintain My Piano's Tuning After a Move?

After a move, it’s common for a piano to go out of tune. Changes in humidity, temperature, and motion during transit can all affect the instrument’s internal tension. Experts recommend waiting 2 to 4 weeks before retuning to allow the piano to settle in its new environment. During this time, place the piano away from direct sunlight and heating/cooling vents. Regular tunings—usually twice a year—help keep the piano sounding its best. As Millers Music advises, “We recommend a regularly used piano be tuned once every six months. This ensures the piano is in tune and gives the technician a chance to perform a general health check and make necessary adjustments to the action and tone.”

At LAP Movers, we understand that your piano’s care doesn’t stop when it’s placed in its new spot. We’ll help you determine the best location in your home to reduce stress on the instrument, and we’re happy to recommend skilled local piano tuners. “Protecting your piano is more than just the move—it’s about setting it up for long-term care in its new home,” adds Luis Almaraz.

Can My Piano Be Moved Through Narrow Spaces or Stairs?

Yes—moving a piano through tight Los Angeles spaces like narrow hallways, staircases, or high-rise elevators is possible with the right team and tools. Experienced piano movers assess the space in advance and use custom dollies, ramps, hoisting straps, and disassembly techniques to safely move instruments in or out of complex areas. This Old House advises, “If you have stairs or an elevator to navigate, consider hiring a professional. These obstacles can greatly increase the risk of damage or injury.”

LAP Movers specializes in navigating Los Angeles’s architectural diversity—from hillside homes to downtown apartments. We’ve moved pianos through all kinds of spaces and always come prepared with a plan. If needed, we’ll disassemble parts of the piano or use hoisting methods to get the job done. “Communication helps us to solve problems before they happen and keep your piano safe every step of the way,” assures Luis Almaraz.
